Just one final reminder, you have until midnight tonight to get those CPOSC talk proposals submitted. Then we’ll review the submissions, alert the selectees and start announcing details of the program probably within the next week. Thanks to everyone who has submitted already, it looks like a great group of talks!

The time is near to get those proposals in! The deadline is this Friday, July 11th. So if you’ve been waiting for that deadline pressure to really get the creative juices flowing, now is the time. We’ve had some great submissions so far, with topics ranging from content management with Drupal to version control with git. And there’s still room for more talks, don’t be shy!

If you have any questions or need clarification please feel free to email us, or stop by the #cposc channel on irc.cplug.net.

We’re looking forward to some great submissions in addition to the fantastic proposals we’ve already received.

Keep them coming!

Introducing CPOSC 2008!

1 May 2008 In: News

CPOSC, the Central PA Open Source Conference, is a one-day, multi-track, low-cost conference about all things open source: software, programming, operating systems, community and more. It will take place on Sunday, Oct 19th at the ITT Tech campus in Harrisburg, PA.

As members of various open source related organizations in the area (including CPLUG & CP.rb) we realized that there is a wealth of talent and knowledge just waiting for a venue in which it can be shared. So the idea of CPOSC was born. A time and place where people with a desire to gain knowledge and people with a desire to share knowledge can meet.

ITT was gracious enough to provide us with a location, now it’s time to bring on the content. Today we’re opening a Call for Participation process by which anyone with an inclination to present on an interesting open source-related can submit their idea. This process will run until July 11th, at which time we will decide on the best topic idea and announce the program content and begin the registration process. Please check out the CFP for more details.

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks and months as the conference details continue to solidify. We welcome questions and discussion! The best ways are via email (cpconguys at gmail dot com) or IRC ( #cposc channel on irc.cplug.net ).

Thanks!
