CFP deadline in two weeks

The Call for Participation ends on Friday, July 10, 2009… a mere two weeks away!

We’ve received a really great mix of proposals so far, but could still use some more. Any topic related to open source is fair game: Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, PHP, system administration, security, databases, virtualization, CMSs, Linux, networking, web development, or anything else you are interested in.

If you have any questions, check out the Speaker FAQ or send us an email at team@cposc.org!

Thinking about sending in a proposal?

With about 45 days remaining in the Call for Participation, we’ve already received some really great talk proposals! Keep them coming!

If you have been thinking about doing a talk at CPOSC this year, don’t be shy! Presentations about coding, system administration, security, F/OSS project management, networking, social media, hardware hacking, license management, databases, cloud computing, and any other open source topic are welcome!

The only prerequisite to be a speaker is that you have equal amounts of knowledge and enthusiasm for your topic. :)

Ready to send in a talk proposal? Check out the Speaker FAQ and then submit it via the CFP!

The deadline for proposals is Friday, July 10, 2009.

Interesting speakers wanted

Are you part of a really cool open source project? Do you use open source at your job? Do you have some special experience or expertise to share? If so, you should consider submitting a talk proposal for CPOSC 2009!

Last year’s presentations ranged from development/coding to content management to open source in the workplace. We had talks on Asterisk, Blender, network security, Google’s Android, community involvement, honeybees and electric fences, and everything in between! Having a wide variety of topics all related to open source ensures that there is something for everyone throughout the day.

The Call for Participation is currently open and will run until July 10, 2009. Take a moment to check out the Speaker FAQ and when you are ready, submit your proposal!

CPOSC 2009

CPOSC, the Central PA Open Source Conference, is a one-day, multi-track, low-cost conference about all things open source: software, programming, operating systems, community and more. It will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the new Harrisburg University campus in Harrisburg, PA.

As members of various open source related organizations in the area (including CPLUG & CP.rb) we realized that there is a wealth of talent and knowledge just waiting for a venue in which it can be shared. So the idea of CPOSC was born. A time and place where people with a desire to gain knowledge and people with a desire to share knowledge can meet. Last year’s conference was such a success we decided to do it again!

The Call for Participation opens today! Talk proposals will be accepted until early July at which time we will choose the best topic ideas, announce the program content, and begin the registration process. Check out the Speaker FAQ for additional information.

Watch this website and the Twitter feed for announcements in the coming weeks and months as the conference details are confirmed.

Questions? Suggestions? Contact the organizers via email (team at cposc dot org) or IRC (#cposc channel on irc.cplug.net).

Thanks! And send in a talk proposal! :)

Let’s get started!

The website has a new theme and work has begun on making CPOSC 2009 even bigger and better than last year! As soon as we confirm the venue and date, we’ll post some details!

In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on this site (RSS) and the Twitter feed (@CPOSC) for all the latest updates.

Slides are up

The CPOSC 2008 presentation slides are now linked from the speakers page. Just click on the title of the talk to download them.

We are still missing a few, so if you spoke at the conference and your slides aren’t linked… please send in a copy when you get a chance. ;)

Flickr photos

I’ve uploaded some photos from yesterday to Flickr. You can add your own photos by joining our CPOSC group then adding your photos to the pool, and by tagging your photos with “cposc08″.

Thanks again to everyone who came out yesterday and made CPOSC 2008 a success!

CPOSC 2008, FTW!

CPOSC 2008 is done! Really amazingly cool day with lots of interesting people. Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a success!

If you post photos to Flickr (and we hope you do!) please be sure to tag them with cposc08 so everyone can find them. We’ll be creating a Flickr group shortly to add your photos.

Watch the CPOSC site for a few more updates and “post mortem” information in the coming weeks. The first goal is to get all the presentation slides online as soon as possible.

Thanks again!
